Operating Guidelines

  • Run-out: Maintain TIR ≤0.01 mm at the tool tip to prevent premature corner wear and hole enlargement.
  • Coolant: Through-spindle coolant (minimum 70 bar, 15 L/min) is mandatory. Use water-miscible coolant at 8–10% concentration or neat oil for best thermal management.
  • Peck Cycle: Use 0.25×D peck depth for 8–10×D applications with full retraction to break chips. For <5×D, 0.5×D peck is acceptable.
  • Entry Angle: Drill perpendicular to surface (90° ±1°). For inclined entry, use spot drilling or chamfering first.
  • Speed / Feed Ramp: Reduce Vc by 20% and increase feed gradually over the first 5 mm to stabilize cutting forces.
